Tina Sloan (born February 1, 1943) is an American actress.

Sloan attended The Ursuline School and Manhattanville College.[1] Sloan studied acting with Bob McAndrew and Warren Robertson. She also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.[2]

Sloan originated the character of Lillian Raines in 1983 on the CBS daytime drama Guiding Light, and played Lillian until the show's final broadcast in 2009. Previous leading roles on daytime television have included Kate Thornton Cannell on Somerset (1974–76), Patti Barron McCleary on Search for Tomorrow (1976–77), and Olivia Delaney on Another World (1980–81).

Tina co-wrote, Changing Shoes, One woman's search for the meaning of life in a closet full of shoes with director, Joe Plummer. Tina began touring the U.S. with her one-woman show, Changing Shoes, in 2010.

Spanning more than 40 years of her life, Changing Shoes begins when Tina has a chance encounter with an old pair of shoes while dressing for the Daytime Emmy Awards. The shoes launch Tina on a journey through her past, from sexy starlet to leading lady to daytime matriarch, ultimately forcing her to confront the question: “What do I have to do to remain vital?” Will Tina be able to refashion herself or will the inevitable march of time force her into retirement? As one of the characters in the play tells her: “Always wear your own shoes, otherwise your feet won’t know where to take you.”

Personal life

Tina married Steve McPherson in 1975. Their son, Renny, graduated from Harvard, served as a Captain in the Marine Corps, and is attending Harvard Business School (class of 2011). Tina has competed in eight marathons, including the Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York, and Paris marathons. She has climbed to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa and the Annapurna Refuge in Nepal. Tina has served on the Board of Directors of Outward Bound, Central Park Bench Committee, and Harvard Parents Association.
